Dr. B.R. Ambedkar (1891–1956) was an Indian radical humanist, social reformer and economist who fought against inequality. Born into an “untouchable” caste, he rose via amazing perseverance to earn doctorates from Columbia University and the London School of Economics.

He championed women’s rights, labor protections, and affirmative action for marginalized groups, and enshrined these values in the Indian Constitution (1949) as the principal architect.

Disillusioned with Hinduism’s caste hierarchy, Ambedkar in 1956 founded Navayana (the “New Vehicle”) a socially engaged interpretation of Buddhism. Millions of Dalits joined him.

This website promotes Ambedkar’s ideas via essays & press releases stating the Ambedkarite stance on political issues in the USA and India, and through workshops & projects of Humanist Mutual Aid Network.
